Bishop David Oyedepo has shared his thoughts about the COVID-19 vaccination which is currently ongoing in the country.

The Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (aka Winners’ Chapel) who spoke during his church’s Covenant Hour of Prayer programme, said he won’t take the COVID-19 vaccine because he is not a guinea pig.

Bishop Oyedepo further stated that it is inhuman and immoral to force people to take vaccine. He said;

“A generation where people are forced to take vaccines. It is inhuman; it is immoral sir. I’m not a lawyer, but I do not think it is legal. You can’t come to my house and want to give me injections.

“On what? Did I invite you? They are confused. But the church has the answer. Did you see any outbreak of virus here? How will it enter the gate? Will it come through the air?

“How? One woman just got down after that injection in Kaduna. What kind of life? Are human beings now turned to guinea pigs? The world is confused but the church is lighted.

“So the triumph of the church will humble the pride of the world. They don’t know what to do sir. In the last days, the church will be reigning in power and glory. That is God’s agenda.

“No apologies. There is a big, big bird in our land, saying ‘don’t take it, they are deceivers’. Let me see someone who will come and inject me. By who?

“Are you going to tie my hands? How? Did I invite you? I know you are quiet, you will hear more of it. My job is to expose the devil and tell his agents, ‘get off, we are not guinea pigs.”

FG said that’s better than the current practice of charging one, two to three years of advance rents.
The Federal Government has told landlords in Nigeria to start collecting rents on monthly, quarterly or half-year basis.

FG said that’s better than the current practice of charging one, two to three years of advance rents.

It noted that in the post-COVID-19 era, most tenants are owing rents or facing eviction.

The government said it was evident that most houses available for sale or rent belong mostly to individuals and private companies, compared to those the state or the Federal Government could provide.

Works and Housing Minister Babatunde Fashola said this yesterday at the opening ceremony of the 15th Abuja Housing Show.

The minister, who was represented by the Minister of State for Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu, said:

“It is evident that most houses available for sale or rent belong mostly to individuals and private companies, compared to those the state or Federal Government have available.

“Therefore, many of the tenants who owe rent, who face eviction or who seek to rent or buy property due to the pandemic are dealing with private citizens or companies and less so with government agencies.

“Consequently, my recommendation for improving access and affordability in the COVID-19 era and beyond, as presented at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and which is still apt for this gathering, is for private companies and individuals to give back some of what they control to citizens in the way that the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has given back to citizens some of what it controls.

“For example, in- cases where the rents of businesses or some individuals are due for renewal, the private landlords can give back by accepting monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly rents, instead of one, two or three years rents in advance.

“The risk of defaults can be secured by bank guarantees or insurance bonds provided by the tenants or the employer in exchange for a direct debit mandate from the employee for the deduction of his rent from his salary to pay the landlord.

“Where rent has fallen into arrears, it is possible to emulate what the FGN did through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to reschedule payment on loans by rescheduling the payment for the tenant to more affordable terms, instead of adopting eviction.”

Soldiers on Tuesday prevented traders at the Timber and Building Materials markets in Orlu, Imo State, to open for the day’s business.
Most of the traders in the two markets had on Monday refused to open their shops in solidarity with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who is facing terrorism-related charges at the Federal High court in Abuja.

The soldiers, who were manning a checkpoint close to the two big markets in Orlu, barred the traders from opening their shops for any commercial activity.

Our correspondent was told by the traders that the soldiers ordered the gatemen at the entrances of the two big markets not to open the gates.

While the military continued with their stop and search duty in front of the two markets, traders who came as early as 7am met the entrance gates of the two markets under lock and key.

One of the traders told The PUNCH that he was unable to access his shop on Tuesday when he came for the day’s engagement.

The trader, who didn’t want his identity revealed, said, “Yesterday, almost everybody didn’t open for business in solidarity with Nnamdi Kanu. As we came today, soldiers prevented us from opening the two markets. We didn’t even get into the markets because the gates to the building materials and Timber Market were under lock and key. The soldiers told us that we won’t be allowed to open shop till further notice.”

The chairman of markets, Emmanuel Ibegbulem, who confirmed the development to our correspondent in a telephone conversation, said that he was on his way to the state ministry of commerce and industry.

The spokesperson for the 34 Artillery Brigade Command, Obinze Owerri, Babatude Zubiruo, when contacted, said that he was not aware of the development.
