Days after ‘Ile Arugbo’, a property belonging to Olusola, the late father of former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, was taken over, the Kwara state government on Thursday, January 2, began demolition of the structures in the place.
The home located in Ilorin, capital of Kwara, was taken over by the government with security personnel deployed to the property moments before the demolition.
The Cable reports that the demolition occurred early Thursday, January 2.
Just before the action, security operatives were said to have dispersed protesters who stood against its take-over.
It was learnt that the government decided to carry out the demolition before daybreak because of the mass opposition from loyalists of the Saraki family, who were said to have kept vigil at the property.
The Kwara state government had announced it was taking over the property being used by the family of Saraki in Ilorin, according to a report by Legit.ng.
This was disclosed in a press release by the chief press secretary to Kwara governor, Rafiu Ajakaiye on Friday, December 27, According to him, a new secretariat would be built on the land.
