The UK had previously categorised Health Care Workers as a shortage occupation. But they have recently singled out health care assistants as a “shortage occupation” on its own. This had led to the institution of a new visa category for health care assistants. This will be opened to any person looking to work as carer, caregivers, care aides and care home staff from anywhere in the world with little or no professional training and the minimum salary will be equivalent to N11.5 million salary per year.

To sweeten the deal, the UK government also introduced some mouth-watering perks i.e. reduced application fees and cancellation of some basic mandatory costs included in previous work visa applications.
